Starting with some of the big hitters, Banyan Tree has a raft of openings, such as Banyan Tree Dubai, which is set to replace the existing Caesars Palace Dubai. This will be followed by new Banyan Tree properties in Kyoto, Japan; the tropical island Ilha Caldeira in Mozambique and in Valle de Guadalupe, Mexico’s wine country. Siem Reap in Cambodia and Samui in Thailand are also set to host Banyan Tree resorts before 2024 is out.

Six Senses also has plenty to shout about, including a first Caribbean property, Six Senses La Sagesse in Grenada, opening early in 2024. Six Senses London will be another debut, for the UK, occupying the former art deco department store, Whiteleys in Bayswater. The design of its spa is being described as “reminiscent of an old-fashioned London underground station” while the new Six Senses Kyoto promises traditional healing and Japanese Zen culture as part of its wellness experience. Plus, with Six Senses Svart due to open in Norway, the brand is claiming the title of the world’s full carbon-neutral and emission-free resort. The hotel, constructed on poles above the waters of the Holandsfjorden fjord, will be completely independent from the power grid, harvesting all its own solar energy.
