The Advantage Travel Partnership has renewed its process for selecting destinations and hotels for its annual conferences over the next three years as it hunts for its next venue.
The group’s decision to revamp the RFP (Request For Proposal) for conferences follows positive feedback from delegates at the 2022 Advantage conference on the Portuguese island of Madeira, who said the location of the conference was a deciding factor in attending.
The post-conference survey also revealed that 99% of delegates would consider visiting Madeira again, highlighting the value of the event in showcasing different destinations to travel agents. Almost all attendees (96%) agreed immersive destination activities should be included in the conference programme, while the length of the flight to the destination was not considered a barrier to attending.
The new RFP will be designed to find the best destinations for future Advantage conferences, inviting proposals from destinations and resorts around the world.
Advantage chief executive Julia Lo Bue-Said, said: “We would love to hear from destinations that can offer fantastic conference spaces, as well as in-destination experiences that allow delegates to immerse themselves fully in the location. It’s clear from our survey results that attending delegates become ambassadors for the destinations they visit, so the more immersive and dynamic the conference and destination experience, the better.”
Advantage conferences have previously been held in Cadiz in Spain, Miami in the US, Nice in the south of France, Bodrum in Turkey, Dubai in the UAE and Malta.
