AE Expeditions has called on agents to join its annual nationwide beach clean event to honour late expedition leader Sarah Auffret.
Launched by the Association of Arctic Expedition Cruise Operators (AECO) and environmental organisation The International Association of Antarctica Tour Operators (IAATO), the ‘Clean up for Sarah’ initiative takes place worldwide between 11 and 19 June to celebrate the life of Auffret, who died in a plane crash in 2019.
The UK beach clean-ups will be on 11, 12 and 14 June at Chester’s Wales Coast Path, Woking’s Pyford Lock and Norfolk’s Winterton Beach respectively. The beach clean-ups – organised by AE Expeditions in partnership with Explore Worldwide – will start at 10am. Equipment will be provided.
“We’re very proud to participate in this initiative to honour Sarah’s incredible work and advocacy for protecting the world’s marine environments,” said AE Expeditions sales director EMEA Andrew Turner.
“These clean-ups remove thousands of kilogrammes of rubbish from local environments every year, and we look forward to spending the morning with our agent partners contributing to our local communities in a meaningful way.”
Agents who are unable to attend one of beach clean-ups are encouraged to join similar events local to them and share photos with the line.
They can register to join one of AE Expeditions’ beach clean events online.
