Affordable Car Hire has entered voluntary liquidation, with founder and chief executive Angela Day also stepping down from her role as an ITT director.
The firm saw both clients and the number of rental partners drastically reduced because of Covid. Its demise means Day will not seek re-election to the ITT board, on which she has served for eight years.
ITT chair Steven Freudmann said: “It’s very sad to see a company 20 years in existence going into liquidation. They have been major contributors to the ITT during that time. It must be very traumatic; Covid has caused problems like this, Angela is not the only one.”
TTG has attempted to contact Day, who has turned her efforts to the perfume industry after launching Angela Day Fragrances.
The Angela Day Fragrances website says: “The opportunity to build a fragrance collection around my travel experiences is one which I am proud to share as my collections are based around places which hold great memories for me.
"My introductory collection of 24 fragrances is themed around the wonderful city of London.”
Records show ongoing financial problems with the Affordable Car Hire brand during the Covid crisis.
A first attempt to have Affordable Care Hire compulsorily struck off was made in December 2020. This was discontinued in February 2021 when directors remedied the position.
Another notice was posted by the Registrar of Companies in November 2021 but discontinued a month later before the brand struggled on for another three months.
