Artificial intelligence will have a "huge impact" on the travel industry, according to Travel Ledger founder Roberto De Re.
Speaking during the 2023 TTI Travel Tech Summit in London on Thursday (23 March), De Re – who launched the travel technology firm in 2021 – said AI has the potential to help businesses deal with product content.
"Providing it’s used in the right context, AI will continue to have a big impact in the travel sphere," he said.
"I see a lot of potential when it comes to managing large amounts of text for online travel agents (OTAs), operators and in every aspect of travel."
The software, De Re predicted, will be able to help agencies differentiate product information from suppliers to give it a unique tone suited to a specific consumer base.
"It would cost a fortune to pay human beings to create unique content for every distributor, so AI has a real application in that space," he said.
Another way AI could benefit travel companies is through user experience, such as automated answering phone messages.
"AI could lead to the end of bots and voice messaging, which is so rigid," De Re told delegates. "The conversation an AI engine can produce, in my opinion, will make the user experience much better than it was."
