Air Canada will offer a temporary connection from Heathrow to Mumbai next winter.
The daily flight, from 29 October, will originate in Toronto and is aimed at the substantial number of Canadian residents with connections to India.
However, an Air Canada spokesperson confirmed to TTG fares from the UK to Mumbai would be available.
Mark Galardo, the airline’s senior vice president, network planning and revenue management, said the flight was a temporary measure in the immediate post-pandemic period.
"The India market remains very important to Air Canada, and we are committed to resuming our currently paused non-stop services on Toronto-Mumbai and Vancouver-Delhi when circumstances allow," he said.
The Mumbai service will be on a three-class Boeing 787. It will leave Heathrow at 11.10, arriving Mumbai at 01.40. Inbound flights leave at 04.50, arriving at 09.20. Services will run until 26 March 2023.
