Air Canada will restart direct flights between Edinburgh and Toronto this summer, operating the route daily at peak times – with plans to extend the service into the 2023/24 winter season and the 2024 summer season.
The route will resume on 2 June, operating "up to daily" until 28 October. Flights will depart Edinburgh at 9am, arriving into Toronto at 11.10am. Returns depart Toronto at 7.05pm, arriving into Edinburgh at 6.35am (+1).
Air Canada will continue operating the route on a three-times-weekly basis this coming winter through to 8 January. Winter flights will depart Edinburgh at 9am on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays. The route is also "planned to return in early spring 2024".
The airline will operate the route using a three-cabin Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft featuring Air Canada’s Signature Class, as well as premium economy and economy. Flights, it said, have been timed to allow passengers to take advantage of Air Canada’s North American network.
“Our newly extended service from Edinburgh will not only provide our customers in Scotland with a direct link to Canada during both the summer and winter seasons, but also allow convenient onward travel options across North America," said Air Canada general manager sales UK and Ireland, Stephen Gerrard.
Kate Sherry, chief commercial officer (aero) at Edinburgh airport, added: "Extending this service into the winter months is very exciting for us and we are really happy to see Air Canada’s confidence in the strong Edinburgh market through to January."
The route complements Air Canada’s year-round Heathrow services to Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal, Calgary and Halifax, and its year-round Dublin-Toronto route.
