British Airways has announced a new route to Portland starting next summer as well as a return to another US city.
The carrier will fly from Heathrow to Portland from 3 June 2022. The service will operate five times a week on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, with economy return fares from £499.
The service to the Oregon city had originally been due to start in June 2020, but was postponed due to the pandemic.
In addition, BA will resume services from Heathrow to Pittsburgh. Flights will also start on 3 June 2022 and operate four times a week on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. Fares start from £449 return.
BA began flying to the Pennsylvania city in April 2019 but put it on a list of permanent route suspensions in December last year. However, the airline now seems to have had a change of heart.
Flights to both destinations will be on a Boeing 787-8.
Neil Chernoff, BA’s director of networks and alliances, said: “Our new route to Portland opens up a whole variety of connections for our customers. Through Alaska Airlines, our oneworld partner, British Airways will offer codeshare connections to several destinations operated by Alaska Airlines from Portland.”
