Carnival Cruise Line has announced plans for Carnival Sunshine and Carnival Liberty to restart in January and February 2022 respectively.
The move comes as the line works towards the return of its full fleet sailing from their US homeports by next spring. It aims to have 17 ships in operation by the end of 2021.
Sunshine is set to restart from Charleston on 13 January and Liberty will join Mardi Gras, Carnival Elation and Carnival Magic with departures from Port Canaveral on 11 February.
Carnival Breeze, Carnival Dream and Carnival Vista have resumed services from Galveston and Carnival Freedom, Carnival Horizon, Carnival Sunrise and Carnival Conquest from Miami.
Carnival Glory and Carnival Valor have returned to their homeport of New Orleans while Carnival Panorama, Carnival Radiance and Carnival Miracle have resumed from Long Beach.
Carnival Legend is now operating from its Baltimore homeport and Carnival Pride from its Tampa base.
Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line, said the company’s restart plan continues to "excel across all metrics, and we are looking forward to completing the restart of the fleet in the new year."
"We appreciate the support and patience of our guests, travel agents and port and destination partners who have been key to this successful restart," she added.
Cruises on Carnival’s three remaining US-based ships – Carnival Ecstasy from Jacksonville, Carnival Paradise from Tampa and Carnival Sensation from Mobile – have been cancelled through February.
In addition, Carnival Splendor from Sydney is cancelled through to 7 February and Carnival Spirit from Brisbane is cancelled until 20 February.
