Cunard has appointed David Jones as its new UK sales chief following the departure of Angus Struthers.
Jones, who joined Cunard parent company Carnival UK in 2017 as marketing communications director, becomes Cunard’s vice-president of global marketing and UK/EMEA sales, effective from Monday (10 June).
In his new role, Jones will be tasked with driving growth and strengthening the brand’s presence worldwide, as well as delivering sales strategies across Europe, the Middle East and Asia.
Cunard president Katie McAllister said Jones’s appointment came at "a crucial moment" for the brand. “His experience will be instrumental as we continue to build our global marketing presence,” she added.
Jones succeeds Struthers, who had been due to leave the business in early June after 11 years with the line. His departure was timed to follow the launch of Queen Anne, the first new Cunard ship for 14 years.
Late last year, Struthers told TTG agents would be “more important than ever”, with the launch of Queen Anne poised to create an additional 44% capacity for the line. “It’s our job to make sure [agents] are equipped and understand where the ships are sailing,” he said in October.
