Cyprus has introduced tougher testing rules for UK visitors that could affect its appeal as a winter sun destination.
The UK has been placed in the island’s Red category, with all travellers now required to complete a Cyprus Flight Pass before travel. Passengers also require a negative PCR test result taken within 48 hours before departure.
The UK FCDO said travellers aged 12 and above must also take a PCR test on arrival at the airport in Cyprus, costing €15 - €19. Results are available within three hours and arrivals must self-isolate in accommodation until then.
In addition, UK passengers will be given five self-tests that must be used daily. Provided these are all negative, another rapid test must then be carried out at a mobile unit of the Ministry of Health. This test is free on presentation of a boarding pass.
Different rules are in place for Northern Cyprus.
