Cyprus is poised to scrap all its remaining Covid-related travel restrictions this week.
The country will end its Covid action plan on Wednesday (1 June).
It means travellers will no longer need to show proof of vaccination against – or recovery from – Covid-19 to enter Cyprus, or evidence of a recent negative test for Covid-19.
Transport minister Yiannis Karousos said the decision marked "a return to normality in terms of travel".
Karousos said air passenger traffic to Cyprus in May was expected to reach 77% of pre-pandemic levels, with around 30,0000 people arriving a day.
"Efforts are being made, of course, to further increase this percentage and the occupancy rate, and the results are quite positive," said Karousas.
He added rules on the wearing of masks in airports would be a decision for the country’s ministry of health. "If the ministry classifies airport halls as high-risk areas, then a mask will have to be used," said Karousas.
Masks are currently compulsory in all indoor public spaces for everyone aged six and above, according to the Foreign Office. It is yet to update its advice for Cyprus to reflect the changes.
