Abta’s former head of membership Danny Waine has set up a new consultancy he says will help budding travel entrepreneurs bring their dreams to life.
Travel Nomads will offer a suite of services to travel agents, tour operators and businesses throughout the wider travel and tourism eco-system.
The virtual service will help people launch new businesses, support high potential start-ups ready to grow, and counsel SMEs with regards to succession planning.
Initially, Travel Nomads will focus on services such as sales strategy, business development, relationship building and account management.
“I’ve met so many inspiring entrepreneurs in my 20 years in the travel industry so far, and I’ve thrived working alongside them," said Waine.
“Some ideas from new-to-industry entrepreneurs have massive potential, but the individuals often lack the industry understanding or relevant network to bring them to fruition.
“Conversely, many long-standing entrepreneurs who run SMEs are looking to exit, but don’t have a viable succession plan in place. Travel Nomads will assist entrepreneurs across the whole spectrum.”
Some 20 years ago, Waine co-founded overseas wedding specialist Perfect Weddings Abroad. He went on to co-found the ITT Future You initiative in 2008.
“Having spent much of my career encouraging others to shape their own destiny in the travel and tourism industry, now feels like the right time to launch Travel Nomads, to help passionate travel entrepreneurs succeed," he continued.
Waine said Travel Nomads’ strapline – “doing business beyond boundaries” – reflected how the modern travel industry operates. “With the right technology and talent in place, anything is possible,” Waine he added.
“When accessing talent, we are no longer geographically constrained and as technology develops at a faster pace than ever, the opportunities are endless.”
Waine confirmed to TTG he was already in discussions with a number of potential clients. "The idea is to offer a virtual service and if the clients are looking to tap into my network then I will also bring people together," he said.
Waine left Abta in late 2024 after just over four years at the trade body. Abta recently named Kenwood Travel’s head of sales Roberto Balasco as his successor.
