A softening of FCDO advice has led Explore to reinstate tours of Lebanon from April.
The FCDO cleared much of Lebanon for travel in late December, although border areas and part of southern Beirut still carry a red or yellow warning. This includes the Roman city of Baalbek, a popular attraction in the east of the country, to which the FCDO advises against all but essential travel.
Explore is offering its six-night Highlights of Lebanon trip, with departures throughout 2023, leading in at £1,399pp without flights.
Alison Butler, Explore’s Middle East product manager, said: “I’m just delighted to get our Highlights of Lebanon trip back on sale for 2023. This was one of our bestselling trips when we launched it in 2020, and we just know demand will be huge again this year.
“Lebanon is a really special country, with incredible historic sites, beautiful scenery and incredible food, but we also know just how much the people of Lebanon will benefit from renewed income from tourism.”
Explore’s accompanied tour normally includes Baalbek, which will be reinstated once the FCDO gives the all-clear.
