Around 170 people are being held hostage by suspected Islamist terrorists in the city of Bamako in Mali.
Special forces troops have reportedly stormed the Radisson Blu Hotel, according to the BBC.
The Foreign Office currently advises against all but essential travel to the capital, and against all travel to much of the rest of the country.
“There is an ongoing incident at the Radisson Hotel in Bamako. If you are in Bamako you should avoid the area and follow the instructions of the local authorities,” the FCO said.
Reports suggest that three people have been killed.
