AllClear Insurance has launched a new Covid-19 policy including medical expenses, cancellation cover, repatriation and recuperation costs.
The company, which specialises in providing cover for older travellers with pre-existing medical conditions, said the policy offered the “most wide-range set” of Covid-19 travel insurance measures.
The policy includes up to £15 million emergency cover for Covid-19, as well as cancellation and trip curtailment protection if a family member becomes ill with coronavirus or is required to quarantine.
Chris Rolland, chief executive of AllClear Insurance, said: “Travel is part of the DNA of modern life and, as we come out of lockdown, it is natural that people will want to go overseas – the vital issue is how this can be done safely and fully following government advice on Covid-19.
“Now is not a time for anyone to travel without insurance or the false economy of cheap cover that’s full of holes. When it is safe to travel, people want to know they will be in a safe pair of hands when they go abroad. That is why we have put together a comprehensive package.”
The launch of AllClear’s new policy comes as research shows 24% of those aged over 55 are planning to take a trip abroad within the next three months.
This age group is also the least likely to have put off their overseas travel plans for 2020, as well as being the most likely to want a holiday abroad after lockdown.
“We’re not encouraging people to travel when they shouldn’t, but we want to make it safe for people when they can or when they have to,” added Rolland.
The policy also includes full repatriation costs of returning to the UK, carer expenses for a friend or relative to travel to the destination, recuperation cover, emergency flights back to the UK, and up to 30 days free extended cover if the policy expires while the client is ill, quarantined or recovering from Covid-19 on holiday.
