KLM is set to introduce earlier flights from Teesside airport to Schiphol airport and plans to offer a twice-daily service from next year.
The Dutch carrier resumed the route in June with a four-times weekly service on Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays at 5.20pm.
With the further easing of restrictions, the airline now aims to bring the flight time forward to 12.25pm.
From January, it plans to offer twice-daily flights departing Teesside at 6.05am and 10.40am.
Tees Valley mayor Ben Houchen said the route is a "firm favourite" for people across Teesside, Darlington and Hartlepool travelling to Amsterdam.
"This initial time change will only make the route more attractive as the world opens up once again, making it more convenient for holidaymakers and showing how Teesside Airport is backing businesses," he added.
"The next move, in January, will be even better for passengers, giving them even more options to fly globally from their local airport."
