Agents need to ensure that their social media posts are both mobile and customer-friendly.
That was the advice of social media consultant Bruce Martin, from digital marketing agency Ginger Juice at the Advantage Cruise Conference.
He told delegates that more than 32 million Brits check Facebook every day, and that on average, users check it seven times a day.
Martin also revealed that Brits spend around two hours 12 minutes a day on social media, and around one hour 33 minutes on their phones each day. With millennials however, this rises to an average of three hours 10 minutes spent on phones.
“Your cruise customers are on social media a lot,” he said, as he urged agents to take care in creating attractive-looking offers, promote them effectively and then follow up.
He also advised agents to ensure details were filled in on their business Facebook pages, such as the “about you” section, and to make sure that it is easy for customers to contact the agency.
Elsewhere, Martin told delegates to put personality into their posts. “No one likes cold calls or spam,” he said. “Avoid just selling. Be helpful, funny, inspirational, and be you”.
