Sales have opened and new details have been revealed for MSC Cruises’ “most innovative and environmentally advanced” ship, the upcoming MSC World Europa.
The first of the line’s World Class series of vessels, World Europa will feature “ground-breaking design” with a 90-degree arrow-shaped plumb bow and a Y-shaped aft, opening onto a 104-metre-long promenade offering ocean views (pictured above).
Half open to the sky and half covered by an LED sky screen, the screen will feature tailor-made displays throughout the day. World Europa’s “reimagined” promenade will also feature The Spiral - an architectural centrepiece with a dry slide spanning 11 decks.
At 333m long and 22 decks high and with 40,000 sq/m of public space, World Europa, currently under construction in Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, will become MSC longest ship in its fleet.
MSC is promising “an ultramodern urban metropolis at sea” with distinct districts in each part of the ship - from an adults-only zen district (pictured below) to the promenade with entertainment, shops and bars, to a separate family district housing “as many as ten” new kids facilities.
Six pools and 14 whirlpools and an Aquapark with integrated virtual reality technology will also be on offer.
World Europa will also feature 13 dining venues, including six speciality restaurants and two new locations - Chef’s Garden Kitchen focussing on microgreens and La Pescaderia, a seafood grill with alfresco seating.
MSC’s Masters of the Sea pub will be split across two decks and brew craft beer onboard for the first time, while others concepts include, mixology bar, Elixir, a South Asian-style tea room, a coffee bar and gin venue.
World Europa will also offer “an extensive range” of accommodation options with 19 different categories. The vessel will also see the introduction of seven new and innovative cabin types.
They include balcony suites and cabins that overlook the promenade; duplex MSC Yacht Club suites with large balconies and private hot tub; Infinite Ocean view cabins with a panoramic sliding window that turns into a glass balustrade when open.
World Europa will be MSC’s first LNG-powered vessel – which reduces local air emissions such as sulphur oxides by up to 99% and nitrogen oxides by up to 85% and CO2 reductions amounting of 25%.
World Europa will also feature selective catalytic reduction systems, shore-to-ship power connectivity and advanced wastewater treatment systems.
The ship will enter service in December 2022 and will spend its inaugural season in the Gulf – commencing with a four-night sailing from Doha to its new homeport of Dubai.
From Dubai, World Europa will offer seven-night cruises to Abu Dhabi, including calls in Dammam (Saudi Arabia) visiting the Al-Ahsa Oasis UNESCO World Heritage site.
Departing Dubai on 25 March 2023, World Europa will redeploy to the Mediterranean and offer seven-night cruises calling Genoa, Naples and Messina, as well as Valletta in Malta, Barcelona and Marseille.
Sales are now open and MSC Voyagers Club members can benefit from an additional 5% discount for a fortnight on top of their usual 5% discount.
MSC Cruises executive chair Pierfrancesco Vago said: “Quite unlike anything else at sea today, MSC World Europa and the entire MSC World Class redefines the cruise experience in so many ways: from the future-proof on board technologies that this completely new platform introduces for the first time all the way to its ground-breaking marine and interior design features. Put simply, MSC World Europa marks the beginning of a new era for cruising.”
