Fresh from taking delivery of its first Prima-class ship, Norwegian Prima, NCL’s second – Norwegian Viva – has been floated out for the first time.
Viva, the second of six Prima-class vessels NCL has on order, floated out from dry dock at Fincantieri’s Marghera shipyard near Venice.
A commemorative coin was welded into the ship to mark the occasion at a traditional ceremony, overseen by NCL president and chief executive Harry Sommer and Fincantieri shipyard director Antonio Quintano.
Float out sees external work on Viva come to an end, with attention now turning to interior fittings and accommodation. The ship is due to commence sailing in 2023.
"The float out of Norwegian Viva has been much anticipated and it’s an incredibly proud day for us all,” said Sommer.
“As our nineteenth ship and the second in our innovative Prima class, Norwegian Viva continues to represent our ongoing commitment to giving guests the best holiday experience imaginable."
