The launch of in-house tour operator Instant4Agents will give homeworkers the possibility to choose between packaging their holidays or having them ready-made, Vertical Travel Group general manager Chris Richmond has told TTG.
Unveiled on Saturday (22 April) during the travel group’s annual conference, Instant4Agents will expand the portfolio of in-house operator Instant Holidays to include a raft of new destinations and hotels.
According to Richmond, the member-only tour operator was born out of members’ desire for a one stop shop post-pandemic.
“Some of the agents have seen the fallout from dynamically packaging post-Covid,” the general manager – who joined the group around 18 months ago but has worked in the industry since he was 15 – said on Sunday (23 April). “After having their fingers burnt they essentially wanted to have a package where somebody else dealt with any issues that arose.”
The 12-people team headed by Richmond deals with last-minute flight cancellations, as well as amendments or extra nights.
All packages are Atol-protected, as the group is part of the Midcounties Co-operative, with agents receiving commission of between 10% and 15% depending on what they book.
Instant4Agents was born out of Vertical’s desire for members to go back to earning their commissions, the general manager added.
“When agents use promo and discount codes, margins for both agents and the group tend to dip slightly,” Richmond added. “I wanted to give the agents the option of earning the full commission.”
The newly launched tour operator is also offering price parity on all bookings to compete with industry giants, as well as giving members “the confidence” to sell a holiday at the price advertised.
"It gives them options to deal with bookings as they see fit," Richmond added. "We want them to grow with us."
