Twelve cyclists from across the cruise industry are set to take part in a charity bike ride for the Family Holiday Charity (FHC).
The ride – which is hosted by Clia and takes place on 17 September – will see participants pedal either 10, 50, 70 or 100 miles across the New Forest.
All funds raised will be donated to the FHC, a non-profit organisation which provides British seaside visits and day trips to struggling families. The initial fundraising target of £10,000 will enable around 40 families to enjoy a short break.
The cyclists confirmed so far are Giles Hawke from Cosmos Tours and Avalon Waterways; Bernie Carter of Oceania Cruises; John Fair from CroisiEurope; Dave Hearne and Carla Hines from Royal Caribbean; Stuart Leven; Jenny Lyons from Virgin Voyages; Marco Macchieraldo and Sam Redfearn from Paramount Cruises; Tom Scott from News UK; Rob Scott from P&O Cruises; and Touchdown’s Robbie White.
The route around the New Forest, organised by UK Cycling Events, provides formal marshalling support and safety measures; food stops en route; a finisher’s medal and event photographers.
Andy Harmer, Clia UK and Ireland managing director, said: "We’ve been supporting the Family Holiday Charity for over five years now and together have raised more than £35,000 to support families facing the most difficult circumstances.
"We know just how vital it is to give access to the breaks they organise and it’s incredibly moving to hear the positive differences they make with our donations."
There is a special discount for entry to the ride and a social media hashtag at #TeamCLIACycle22. To donate, visit the group’s Just Giving page.
