The Rio Convention and Visitors Bureau (Rio CVB) has appointed new representation in London to court the travel trade and rebuild ties with the UK market.
Bossa Brazil will represent the Rio CVB in the UK at travel trade shows and events, as well as related activities with tour operators and agents.
It will support those businesses already selling Rio, as well as those interested in offering it as part of their programmes and packages for the first time.
Pre-Covid, international travel was worth around US $6 billion to Rio annually, the city serving as a gateway to Brazil for tourists.
Roberta Werner, Rio CVB executive director, said the UK market was an important source of tourism revenue for Rio and for Brazil.
"Before the Covid pandemic, international travel injected more than US $6 billion into the Brazilian economy," said Werner. "We are now intensifying the promotion of the marvellous city in the United Kingdom.
"The Rio Convention and Visitors Bureau participates in all international travel trade events. With our London office in partnership with Bossa Brazil, we will greatly strengthen this work."
Rio CVB members include tour operators, DMCs, hotels, restaurants and tourist attractions.
