Ryanair has launched a range of "rescue fares" to help holidaymakers affected by Wizz Air’s decision to axe the majority of its winter sun schedule from Cardiff airport.
On Wednesday (10 August), Wizz said all nine of the routes it announced or launched earlier this year would be suspended – including its flights to Sharm el Sheikh, which had been due to get under way in November.
From 19 September, Wizz will suspend its Cardiff routes to Lanzarote, Tenerife, Alicante, Faro, Palma, Larnaca, Crete (Heraklion) and Corfu.
Ryanair is offering Wizz customers affected by the cancellations at Cardiff £39.99 fares to several of these destinations when booked by midnight on 15 August for travel through to the end of October.
The fares are available on Ryanair flights to Alicante, Faro, Malaga, Palma and Tenerife from Bristol, and its Cardiff-Faro route.
Ryanair’s Dara Brady said: "We are ready to accommodate the holiday needs of families flying from Cardiff who have been affected by these Wizz Air disruptions."
