Ryanair’s move to add 900 weekly flights from Dublin airport this summer will be a "great morale boost" for the Irish travel industry, the Irish Travel Agents Association (ITAA) has said.
On Wednesday (20 Jan), the carrier announced its "largest-ever" summer schedule from the airport, with 120 destinations and more than 900 weekly flights on offer.
The schedule includes destinations such as Spain, Portugal, Italy, the Greek islands, Croatia and France.
Ryanair will also base its 33rd aircraft at Dublin this summer, representing a further $100m investment and bringing its total investment at the airport to $3.3bn. Around 30 jobs are set to be created as a result.
Pat Dawson, chief executive of the ITAA said the expansion is "a great morale boost for the travel industry".
"The plan for an extensive increase in flights operating out of Ireland will not only provide encouragement for travellers to get travelling again, but will promote confidence across the entirety of the travel industry in Ireland," he added.
Ryanair DAC’s chief executive, Eddie Wilson, said: "We are pleased to announce our largest-ever flight schedule at Dublin airport this summer.
"This extensive programme will see Ryanair operate over 900 weekly flights to over 120 destinations, giving inbound tourism a much-needed boost while also giving Irish consumers the widest choice of great destinations this summer."
