Saga Cruises has held a double naming ceremony for its Spirit of the Danube and Spirit of the Rhine river ships in the Netherlands.
The celebration event to mark the launches of the line’s two new-build vessels took place in Arnhem on Saturday (19 March).
Spirit of the Danube was announced by Saga in February 2021 and has been under construction at the Vahali shipyards in Serbia and the Netherlands.
The ship will sail its inaugural cruise, a seven-day Dutch and Belgian Waterways itinerary, on Monday evening (21 March), while its sister departed Arnhem after the naming ceremony en route to Amsterdam for its first post-naming cruise, sailing on 23 March.
The two ships’ godmother was broadcaster and Saga magazine columnist Jenni Murray, and each vessel has four passenger decks and 91 cabins.
