Sandals Resorts International has put the new-look Sandals Dunn’s River resort in Jamaica on sale ahead of the property reopening next May.
The 260-room resort, a cornerstone of Sandals’ portfolio for more than three decaes, will reopen on 24 May 2023 after a full redesign and renovation.
It will feature first of a kind new suite designs, as well as a wide range of restaurant and bar concepts, and offer "new ways to experience Jamaica’s natural wonders".
Sandals said the redesign took inspiration from Jamaica’s winding rivers, lush forests and iconic banyan trees.
SRI executive chair Adam Stewart said the "extraordinary project" was the last one he worked on with his late father Gordon "Butch" Stewart, hailing it "his final masterpiece".
"He handpicked this location more than three decades ago for its white-sand coastline, cool breeze, azure waters and its close proximity to the destination’s archetypical falls," he said.
"It will not only serve to breathe new excitement into a corner of Jamaica loved and cherished by so many, but it will set a new standard of luxury for tourism right here in our backyard with a next-generation resort worthy of its nostalgic past.”
Features of the resort include Sandals’ new Tufa SkyPool Butler Suites, which boast full-length glass panels spanning the length of their oceanfront balconies; Coyaba Swim-Up Rondoval Butler Suites, standalone villas with private pools and open-air rooftops complete with soaking tubs; and Mammee Bay Beachfront Butler Suites, with balconies directly overlooking the ocean.
Elsewhere, there is the Red Lane Spa, which Sandals said was "one of the most luxurious for the brand". Guests can also experience more of the island, and of Ocho Rios, with Sandals’ Stay at One, Play at All programme allowing them to visit additional Sandals resorts in the area via complimentary transfers.
“Ocho Rios is the place where my father grew up, where he first learned to fish and felt the breeze blow along the west-facing beach, and where he first saw the pure joy of the island on the faces of visitors,” said Stewart.
“Here, along Jamaica’s North Coast, he witnessed a blossoming tourism industry and became aware of how to please and serve a new Caribbean customer. Every touchpoint at the new Sandals Dunn’s River is designed to do that and more.”
A seven-night stay for two adults in a Traveltine Luxury Room leads in from £2,765pp including unlimited a la carte dining, unlimited drinks, complimentary land and water sports gratuities, free Wi-Fi, airport-resort transfers and return economy flights.
