Shearings hoping to boost agent bookings with return of £1 deposits
James ChappleShearings has reintroduced its £1pp deposit campaign in the hope of helping agents drum up business for 2023 during the traditionally quieter autumn holiday booking period.
For a limited time, agents will be able to book their clients on Shearings’ escorted coach tours for just £1 each up front to give them time to plan and save for their breaks.
Clients won’t have to pay any more of their balance until 28 days prior to departure for self-drives, and 42 days prior to departure for coach holidays and river cruises.
In the event a customer who secured a booking on the basis of a £1pp deposit cancels, they will be charged a full deposit – £75pp for coach holidays, £25pp for self-drives and £200pp for river cruises.
Ashley Dellow, Shearings’ head of retail sales, said: “September and October are traditionally quieter holiday booking periods; everyone is just back from their summer holidays and thinking ahead to Christmas.
"The £1pp deposit promotion should help agents drum up 2023 bookings. Customers don’t have to worry about payments for a long time and having the booking held secures not just the holiday but also the price. Booking early also usually secures first choice destination and dates."
Shearings is offering thousands of UK and European holiday options, from rail experiences and flora and fauna breaks to festive trips and all-inclusive packages, with departures available throughout 2023 and into 2024 for European breaks.
Escorted coach holidays start from £229pp, self-drive hotel breaks from £89pp and European river cruises from £1,329pp. All holidays include transport, with more than 500 local pick-up and joining points, as well as accommodation, breakfast and specified excursions.
