Singapore Airlines is to resume flying Airbus A380 aircraft on its Heathrow from next month as the carrier “gradually rebuilds” its network.
Flights on the “superjumbo” aircraft will restart on the Heathrow-Singapore route from 19 November and will be deployed on one of Singapore Airlines’ daily services.
The move will mark the return of the airline’s A380s for long-haul travel following the Covid-19 pandemic and comes days after Singapore eased its entry requirements for fully vaccinated travellers.
Mohamed Rafi Mar, general manager UK & Ireland at Singapore Airlines, said: “The return of the Singapore Airlines’ A380 to the skies is a positive step towards international travel recovery.
“By bringing the aircraft back to the UK, we are delighted to offer our passengers enhanced travel options between London and Singapore.”
Flight SQ317 from Heathrow will also be the designated quarantine-free flight from London under Singapore’s vaccinated travel lane (VTL) entry scheme.
VTL allows quarantine-free travel for fully vaccinated travellers between Singapore and seven European countries, including the UK, from 19 October.
