Slovenia’s Adria Airways has filed for bankruptcy after failing to find the fresh investment it required to sustain its operations.
Star Alliance member Adria “temporarily” ceased flying last Tuesday and Wednesday (24-25 September), and has now initiated bankruptcy proceedings.
All scheduled Adria flights have been cancelled, the carrier confirmed in a statement issued on Monday afternoon (30 September).
It comes after Adria earlier this month announced a new summer route between Slovenian capital Ljubljana and Liverpool.
On Monday September 30 2019, Adria Airways filed a motion for bankruptcy proceedings of the company at the Kranj District Court,” said the carrier in a statement.
“Bankruptcy proceedings were initiated by the management of the company because of the company’s insolvency.
“The company announces it will cancel all scheduled flights due to initiation of bankruptcy proceedings.”
