Titan Travel has promised agents “absolutely remain in our plans going forward” after sister brand Saga’s move to dramatically cut the amount of trade partners it intends to work with.
Earlier this week, Saga confirmed an overhaul of its trade strategy for this year across both its holidays and cruising divisions, revealing a decision to partner with “a smaller group” of agents.
A Saga spokesperson said the plan would enable the company to “more closely collaborate and build stronger relationships” with its remaining trade partners and “build a more agile travel business".
In response to Saga’s decision, Titan’s UK managing director Andy Squirrell has pledged his brand’s commitment to agents.
“We have a longstanding and very important relationship with the trade and a significant part of our business comes from agents,” said Squirrell. “That absolutely remains in our plans going forward. There has been a great partnership during the pandemic between us and agents to make sure customers have been kept informed and have tricky situations explained to them.
“The trade has really helped us to retain future bookings. We’re very appreciate of that.”
Squirrell added that were “lots of exciting things coming up” in 2022 and the trade will “absolutely be a very important part of that”.
He said Titan’s head of trade sales Edwina Coppock and her team enjoyed “great relationships” with agents.
“The trade has always showed respect for the Titan brand and long may that continue,” said Squirrell. “We’re looking forward to what we hope will be a much more positive 2022 and we really do see the light at the end of the tunnel.
“We’ve seen some great business coming in this month and throughout the year and, operationally, we like to think we’ll be able to have a very successful year. We’re looking forward and want the trade by our side.”
Titan is planning to launch a new website soon, which is designed to create a “slicker experience” for agents who book online.
