The winners of the 2022 Travel Marketing Awards have been revealed, honouring excellence in travel marketing during an unprecedented and "extraordinary" period for the second.
Winners included On the Beach, Intrepid Travel, Tui and G Adventures, as well as a number of PR agencies, teams and individuals, including Advantage Travel Partnership chief executive Julia Lo Bue-Said.
Awards spanned a range of categories, covering efforts to champion sustainability, promote technology, and reward innovative use of social media, TV, film and video.
TTG Media is Travel Media Awards media partner, and sponsored the five Extraordinary Awards. There were a further 10 Extraordinary Award finalists.
Richard Carrick, president of the Chartered Institute of Marketing’s travel group, which organised the awards, said the past two-and-a-half years had been "anything but business as usual for travel".
"[This] is why we have added the word ‘extraordinary’ to the event this year, to reflect the extraordinary period this year’s awards will be recognising," said Carrick. "It could be argued that the pandemic hit the travel industry harder than any other sector. And while many travel companies waited and waited for the storm to pass, others ensured their voices were heard.
"Extraordinary ideas were imagined in the face of budget cuts and travel bans. And travel marketing teams, individuals and their agency partners pivoted to ensure that travel remained in consumers’ minds for all the right reasons."
Addressing the wider industry, Carrick added: "You should all be extremely proud of your adaptability and perseverance. You have shown great strength, originality, and commitment to achieve – what was viewed by some – as the impossible.
"The current huge demand for travel proves that all your efforts have been worthwhile. You have also changed travel marketing for the better and opened up new possibilities for the future."
