Tui UK and Ireland has appointed Phillip Iveson as its new commercial director – the role vacated last month by Richard Sofer – amid a wider shake-up of its UK and Ireland team.
Iveson, who joined Tui from Expedia in 2010, joins Tui UK and Ireland from Tui Group, where he held a group commercial director role in Tui’s product and purchasing team. He will also become a member of Tui UK and Ireland’s board of directors.
Andrew Flintham, Tui UK and Ireland managing director, said: “Phil brings a wealth of commercial knowledge and experience, making him well placed to lead UK and Ireland’s commercial function.
“I have worked closely with Phill for more than 12 years and look forward to welcoming him onto the UK&I board of directors and wish him every success with his new role.”
Iveson added: “I’m delighted to be joining the board of Tui UK and Ireland at such a pivotal time, as we grow not only in our traditional package market but also in new segments.
“I look forward to leading and working closely with the fantastic commercial department at Tui UK and Ireland, as well as working alongside my peers and board colleagues to drive the business forward.”
Crystal Ski Holidays managing director Chris Logan, meanwhile, will become managing director – specialist businesses, and will report into Iveson as part of a wider shake-up at Tui in the UK and Ireland.
In his expanded role, Logan will take responsibility for Tui River Cruises, as well as lead Crystal Ski Holidays and Tui’s lakes and mountain business.
As a result, Chris Hackney, Marella Cruises’ managing director, will now focus solely on the company’s ocean cruise product as opposed to ocean and river.
Sofer quit his role as Tui UK and Ireland’s commercial and business development director in late September. He joined Tui in September 2016 as managing director of Thomson Cruises before being promoted to his commercial role a year later.
In a statement, Tui thanked Sofer for his “unwavering commitment” during his tenure, describing him as “a crucial leader”.
