Tui is planning to expand its presence in Jamaica next summer with an increased airlift schedule to the island.
Following a meeting with senior Jamaica Tourist Board officials last week, Tui announced plans to boost flights out of the UK. It currently operates 10 flights per week to Jamaica flying from Gatwick, Manchester and Birmingham.
The flights are timed to support cruise arrivals and stopovers on the Caribbean island, and Tui says it aims to have up to eight flights dedicated to stopover arrivals by next summer.
“Part of Jamaica’s recovery efforts has been to strengthen the partnership with our tourism stakeholders like Tui Group. Increasing flights signals confidence which will undoubtedly augur well for the destination in terms of arrivals and economic activity in terms of jobs and overall earnings,” said Jamaican tourism minister Edmund Bartlett.
Jamaica’s director of tourism, Donovan White, added: “Each flight carries roughly 340 passengers, which means about 3,000 passengers spend 11 to 12 consecutive nights in the destination. This is a very positive step forward as we work towards full recovery from the fallout of the pandemic.”
