Applications are open for 200 new cabin crew roles at Virgin Atlantic, which is seeking new recruits "from all backgrounds" keen to be "the friendly, smiling, professional face" of the airline.
The roles will be filled on an initial six-month fixed-term contract, with a view to being extended. This intake follows a drive earlier this year to recruit another 400 new members of crew. In its pitch to potential applicants, Virgin repeatedly reiterates its commitment to diversity and inclusivity in its recruitment.
"Applicants from all backgrounds, no matter age, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, disability, religion or beliefs, are encouraged to apply to join an inclusive workplace where colleagues are supported to be themselves," said Virgin.
Virgin said its inclusive approach was underlined by recent changes to its policies, removing the need for cabin to wear make-up while allowing visible tattoos and the choice to wear the uniform that best represents their gender identity.
Cabin crew, said Virgin, are also offered regular training to support career development and pursuit of opportunities throughout the travel industry, as well as opportunities to travel the world with regular destinations including New York City, Los Angeles, South Africa and the Caribbean.
Estelle Hollingsworth, Virgin Atlantic’s chief people officer, said a role with the carrier "opens up a world of opportunities both within Virgin Atlantic and beyond".
"Our customers and colleagues come from diverse backgrounds, and we’re committed to continuing our support of diversity both on the ground and onboard," said Hollingsworth. "We’re seeking new recruits from all backgrounds who aspire to be the friendly, smiling and professional face that is the airline.
"We champion difference and individuality, and it’s by encouraging all of our people to truly be themselves at work that we uphold an inclusive environment where they each can thrive. We welcome anyone interested in this exciting new career journey to apply now."
