Virgin Voyages pushes back Scarlet Lady debut
James ChappleVirgin Voyages has pushed its first ship Scarlet Lady’s long-awaited debut back to September.
All sailings onboard the ship, scheduled to depart from 4 July to 17 September, have been cancelled.
The ship had been due to enter service in March 2020, just as the Covid crisis took hold around the world.
"As we continue to navigate what’s going on in the world, we’ve made the decision to cancel our sailings from 4 July 2021 through 17 September 2021 on Scarlet Lady," said the line in a statement issued on Wednesday (7 April).
Guests whose booking has been cancelled for the first time will be automatically credited with future voyage credit worth 200% of the fare paid to date, which can be used towards another sailing.
Future voyage credit will be valid for a year from the date the original voyage was due to depart.
Alternatively, guests can claim a full refund for all monies paid to date. They will also receive future voyage credit equal to 25% of their existing paid voyage fare, which can be used towards another sailing.
Guests whose sailing has been cancelled more than once will have their full future voyage credit restored to use towards a future sailing; this credit will be valid for a year from the date the original voyage was due to depart.
