Miami is “back on track” to return to pre-Covid numbers of international tourists after using the pandemic to focus on improving its services for visitors.
The south Florida gateway has enjoyed a quick rebound this year, with arrivals at Miami International airport already approaching 2019 levels by June and then “blossoming” for the rest of the year.
The Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau (NA100) said its growth had gone “hand-in-hand” with the opening of several new hotels this year.
The city, which has long been known for its Cuban cuisine, has also enjoyed its time in the culinary spotlight with the publication of the first Michelin Guide covering the Floridian cities of Miami, Orlando and Tampa. This guide gave Michelin stars to 11 restaurants in Miami.
Joe Docal, director of travel industry sales at Greater Miami CVB, said: “Greater Miami and Miami Beach is among only a few US destinations listed in Time magazine’s World’s Greatest Places this year.
“Great weather and beaches, easy accessibility, thriving arts and culture, and multi-cultural influences that shape our Michelin-rated culinary scene are just a few reasons we attract premier global events like the Formula 1 Crypto.com Miami Grand Prix and Fifa World Cup 2026.
“We look forward to this year’s WTM London and continuing our storytelling journey on Miami and Miami Beach’s best-in-class tourism offerings.”
