The challenge, in association with headline sponsors Not Just Travel and Holiday Extras, saw 17 teams hitting the road this morning, participants and supporters.

The travel industry has come together in a remarkable display of generosity, raising the impressive amount of £58,305. This well exceeds the initial fundraising goal, with more donations expected as the rally progresses.

Some 18 different charitable causes will directly benefit. The total sum raised for charity across all five Travel Trade Crusades is now well over £200,000.

Event organisers Sarah Archer from Beachcomber Tours and Nick Joyce from Art AV expressed their excitement and gratitude, saying: "We are overwhelmed by the incredible support we and our teams have received.

"To surpass our fundraising target before the rally even begins is a testament to the travel industry’s generosity and commitment to these important causes. The return of the Travel Trade Crusade, setting off today has captured the hearts and wallets of the travel industry and the wider community, with donations pouring in to support the teams. We can’t wait to see the teams hit the road and continue raising awareness and funds for these wonderful charities."

The rally will feature a scenic route covering over 1500 miles through six countries in three days, with various checkpoints and activities along the way. Participants will showcase their creatively decorated cars, and the public is encouraged to cheer them on as they pass through local towns and landmarks.

All the miles will be 100% negative carbon offset through Clear.eco ranked in the top 5% in the ‘Best for the World’ B Corps certification.

The Travel Trade Crusade is not just about the thrill of the drive; it is about coming together to support those in need. Each mile driven represents a step closer to positive change and a brighter future for the beneficiaries.
