Adventure travel experts Wild Frontiers has announced its certification as a B Corporation as part of its ongoing commitment to responsible travel.
Founded in 1998, Wild Frontiers has always believed that sustainable and community-focused travel can be a powerful force for good, bringing people from different cultures and communities together, and achieving B Corp status was a natural next step.
Wild Frontiers achieved an overall score of 86.6 points, exceeding both the B Corp pass mark of 80 and the travel industry average of 80.7.
The B Corp certification process involves a rigorous assessment that evaluates a company’s impact across five key areas - governance, workers, community, environment and customer. Businesses must demonstrate a commitment to positive change, balancing profit with purpose.
This certification reflects a long-term dedication to responsible practices and measurable impact, something that has been at the heart of Wild Frontiers since its inception 25 years ago.
Nardia Sullivan, Head of Sustainable Travel at Wild Frontiers, says: “This has been a two-year process. It’s been a rigorous, but really rewarding experience. Using B Corp’s structure and guidance, our commitment to creating positive impact for people and planet is stronger than ever. There is so much to celebrate now for our fantastic team at Wild Frontiers! But that’s just the start, the work continues!”.
Clare Tobin, Managing Director at Wild Frontiers, adds: “B Corp Certification is well-respected and reflects our long-term commitment to ensuring our entire business and our team operate ethically and with the preservation of the communities and destinations our clients visit”.
As part of their ongoing strategy, Wild Frontiers has set a 7% year-on-year carbon reduction target and increased their fundraising targets with the goal of doubling the size of the Wild Frontiers Foundation, reaching £50,000 by the end of 2024.
Set up in 2009, the Wild Frontiers Foundation provides a platform to create awareness, raise money and deliver funding to community projects in countries where the company operates. These include initiatives focused around education, the empowerment of local people and community conservation.
