Birmingham-based accessible holiday specialist Enable Holidays has named its new chief executive.
Ben Kirby, who joined the firm in 2017 from FCM Travel Solutions, has been promoted to the top role.
Prior to taking up his new position, Kirby steered the brand – launched in 2004 by Lynne Kirby – through the pandemic in his role as general manager.
He will oversee a business that now offers more than 500 accessible holiday options across 50-plus destinations, ranging from Jersey to the Far East.
Kirby said he was excited to drive Enable’s efforts to open up more of the world to travellers with specific needs, with regards to facilities and services.
"Accessible travel is not just about assistance at the airport and a few adaptations in the accommodation," said Kirby. "It’s more a case of providing a tailor-made service and supporting our customers to ensure everything runs smoothly from start to finish.
"While Enable is well-known for going the extra mile for its customers, there’s lots more to do if we are to see universal accessibility and equal holiday opportunities for everyone. And it’s on this topic I’d like to see a bringing together of the travel industry, local communities and governments to plan a fairer future for all."
The shake-up will usher in a new management structure at Enable, which will see founder Kirby step down as managing director but remain an active member of the company’s board.
