Globus has put “a lot of thought” into restructuring its trade sales team as it looks to increase its market share, according the company’s UK sales chief.
In early April, the company, which operates Globus Journeys, Cosmos Tours and Avalon Waterways, announced Jayne Lambert, Kelly Calver, Karen Milward and Ryan Readman had been hired.
Lambert will support national accounts for Globus’ touring brands while Calver will help agents selling Avalon Waterways.
Milward and Readman will assist agents selling all Globus brands.
Sales director Phil Shipman confirmed the sales team segmentation was his idea and is part of the company’s efforts to increase sales via the UK and Irish market.
Shipman, who joined Globus in September, noted how the UK and Ireland is considered by the company as “one of Globus’ smaller markets”, but highlighted the obvious sales potential here.
“There’s been a lot of thought behind the team which has been brought together,” he explained. “We’ve introduced a segmentation strategy so we’ve split touring and river up.
“We’re talking to two different audiences – river cruise and touring – so we need that key account focus.”
Shipman added: “The UK market has always been a strong market for us, but obviously we want to increase our market share because globally we are one of the smaller markets but still an important one. There is potential because of the size of the market here. We’re contributing to the overall pot.”
Meanwhile, Globus brands – Cosmos Tours and Avalon Waterways – have been awarded the ServiceMark accreditation with distinction in the UK for their customer service levels.
The accreditation has been awarded by the customer service body Institute of Customer Service (ICS).
It is the first time this level of customer service accreditation has been awarded to a British travel company.
The accolade was the result of ICS speaking with Avalon Waterways and Cosmos Tours UK customers and staff via a survey.
