Abta saw a healthy increase in its profits last year, despite a small reduction in membership numbers.
The association made a group surplus after tax of £3.4 million, up from £2.1 million in 2023. Within this, trade association activities made a profit of £344,000 compared with a loss of £228,000 the previous year.
The bulk of profits – £3.1 million – came from Abta’s insurance activities. Figures were also helped by an 8.5% increase in subscriptions, which brought in £6.6 million. Events and the annual convention brought turnover of £941,000.
During the year, there were no failures of any Abta members. The 12 months saw 41 head office members leave the association, while 18 new members joined. This brought the total at the year end 30 June 2024 to 808, compared with 831 the previous year. Added to this were 318 ancillary office members.
Accounts also reveal the association’s net assets increased by £3.2 million to £32.2 million, while the highest paid director’s package rose from £331,000 to £342,000.
Abta also claims higher brand recognition than in previous years, with 89% of consumers saying they were more likely to book a holiday with an Abta member than a non-member.
