Air Transat launched the UK’s first-ever direct scheduled service to Quebec City from Gatwick on Thursday (12 May).
The airline is also offering three-times weekly flights to Montreal, increasing to daily in June, and has upped flights to Toronto to daily, rising to twice-daily from late June.
The launch of the Quebec route means Gatwick passengers are now able to choose from 50 weekly services to six destinations across Canada this summer.
WestJet will operate six flights a week to Vancouver, rising to daily from mid-June, and four flights a week to Halifax, which will also increase to a daily service from mid-July.
This is in addition to the three-times weekly service it offers to Calgary, which will increase to five-times-weekly from mid-June.
Stephanie Wear, vice-president of aviation development at Gatwick, said: "With so many people in the UK having close connections with Canada, we are delighted to be able to offer Gatwick passengers such easy and widespread access to fantastic destinations across the country."
According to data from Destination Canada, more than 900,000 tourists travelled to Canada from the UK in 2019, making the UK Canada’s largest long-haul market.
Meanwhile, data from Visit Britain shows 850,000 Canadians visited the UK in 2018.
