Carnival Cruise Line has formally welcomed Carnival Firenze to its fleet, which grows to 27 ships in total.
The former Costs Cruises ship will now undergo a two-month Italian-inspired makeover before making its debut for Carnival in April.
Alongside sister ship Carnival Venezia, Carnival Cruise Line president Christine Duffy said Firenze will "showcase Carnival [in] fun Italian style".
The ship’s atrium will be modelled on Florence’s main public square, the Piazza del Duomo, while its Lido deck will take inspiration from the Italian Riviera.
Besides La Strada Grill, which will serve classic Italian street food, and Mexitalian fusion restaurant Tomodoro, Firenze will feature Carnival’s newest Italian speciality restaurant Il Viaggio, as well as bars Amari and Frizzante.
Firenze will sail year-round from Long Beach, California, offering a range of three- and four-day sailings to Mexico and Catalina Island, and longer five-, six- and seven-night Mexican Riviera itineraries, calling in Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlan and Puerto Vallarta.
