EasyJet will restart services to Luxor later this year for the first time in more than a decade, and will offer river cruise packages on the Nile through easyJet holidays.
The airline and operator on Wednesday (17 July) confirmed twice-weekly Gatwick flights to the Nile city would get under way on 11 November, departing on Mondays and Thursdays.
Luxor is the latest addition to easyJet’s Egypt programme following the launch of three-times-weekly Luton-Cairo services late last year, with easyJet billing the Egyptian capital as a city break destination.
EasyJet holidays, meanwhile, has partnered with luxury hotel brand Jaz Hotels and Resorts to offer a seven-night Nile river cruise through upper Egypt from Luxor.
Holidaymakers will depart the city and sail in the direction of the historic sites of Edfu and Aswan before returning to Luxor to visit the Karnak necropolis, home to the world-famous statue of pharaoh Ramses II and other Unesco World Heritage sites.
Packages will feature an array of four- and five-star hotel options. Prices for a seven-night stay, including return flights and 23kg luggage, start from £502pp and range up to £567pp, depending on the hotel.
“Our new Nile cruises make the grandeur of ancient Egypt more accessible than ever with a range of options to choose from, including the Iberotel Crown Empress and the Jaz Crown Jubilee,” said easyJet holidays chief commercial officer Paul Bixby.
Elsewhere, easyJet is also launching twice-weekly services to Sharm El Sheikh from Liverpool. The first flight will take off on 14 February 2025, with services operating Mondays and Fridays.
Other additions include two new Oslo routes from Manchester and Liverpool, launching on 15 November and 29 November respectively. Twice-weekly services will operate on Mondays and Fridays.
EasyJet’s UK country manager Ali Gayward said the airline and operate would add 41 new routes, including three brand new destinations, to its network this winter.
