Gatwick Express will resume a non-stop service next month for the first time since the onset of the pandemic in March 2020.
From 3 April, the train operator will run two services non-stop between Gatwick Airport station and London Victoria.
The service is timetabled to operate seven days a week, although this will be affected by weekend engineering work.
Gatwick’s station is currently being redeveloped to “improve accessibility, reduce passenger congestion and cut delays”, according to Gatwick Express operator Govia Thameslink Railway.
Services were suspended on 30 March 2020 as international travel restrictions came into force and passenger numbers sharply decreased.
Trains resumed on weekdays in mid-December 2021, before being curtailed two weeks later due to Christmas engineering work, followed by the spread of the Omicron variant.
Stephen MaCallaugh, Gatwick Express general manager, said the reopening of Gatwick’s South Terminal on 27 March would help generate further demand for rail travel as airport passenger levels continued to rebound.
