The number of flights from the UK to Greece – and specifically to Rhodes, its second most popular destination – will reach record levels this summer, despite ongoing wildfires there.
Flight data specialist Cirium estimates Greece will receive 4,960 flights from the UK in July, equating to nearly 952,000 seats. August will see a slight increase, with 5,052 departures, equating to 972,000 seats.
The two destinations most affected by fires, Corfu and Rhodes, will receive the highest number of arrivals, followed by Athens, Heraklion and Zakynthos. Among UK carriers, easyJet has the highest number of departures, followed by Jet2.com, Tui, British Airways and Ryanair.
Rhodes will this month see 669 flights scheduled from the UK, equating to 132,000 seats. In August, 698 flights are scheduled, making 138,000 seats.
