Japan has brought forward plans to end all of its remaining Covid travel restrictions to this Saturday (29 April).
From Saturday, the requirement to provide evidence of vaccination against Covid-19, or a recent negative test for the virus, will end.
The move has been confirmed by Japan’s ministry of health, as well as its ministry of foreign affairs.
"If you are boarding an aircraft arriving in Japan after midnight Japan time on 29 April, valid vaccination certificate or pre-departure test is not required," said the country’s ministry of health.
The country will, though, continue to screen arrivals for infection, with anyone displaying symptoms of suspected Covid-19 infection required to take a test upon arrival.
Those that test positive will be required to quarantine at a designated facility. Screening will replace random testing for arrivals from China, the country’s ministry of foreign affairs added.
The Foreign Office has updated its advice to reflect the change. "All travellers arriving into Japan from 29 April will no longer be required to show proof of a Covid-19 vaccination or a Covid-19 test result for travellers who are not vaccinated," read its updated advice.
