Travel Talks Menopause has launched its first event – an hour-long panel discussion featuring advice as well as tips on how businesses can best support women experiencing the menopause.
The initiative, which is the brainchild of Holiday Extras national retail manager Lindsay Garvey-Jones and Silversea’s regional sales manager Julie Nunes, was launched earlier this month to raise awareness in the travel industry around women’s health.
Since then the pair said they had been “inundated” with industry peers wishing to support the initiative and tell their own stories.
The first event will be an online panel discussion on 23 November at 10am. Garvey-Jones said it would “bring together some of our industry’s voices – sharing their experiences of the menopause, the impact and how they are coping”.
“We want to create an openness around the topic and talk about how we can support those around us and how companies and businesses can start best supporting their employees,” she said.
“The menopause will affect us all in some way, whether is us, our partners, family or work colleagues yet it’s still very much misunderstood,” added Nunes. “We want to change that and offer support and clear information to everyone in this industry we love.”
TTG Media has been confirmed as Travel Talks Menopause’s media partner. Daniel Pearce, CEO, TTG Media said: “TTG is thrilled to be the media partner for Travel Talks Menopause. The TTG team are passionate about championing issues around diversity, inclusion and mental health and we know the menopause can have a huge impact on the mental health of women.
“We are proud to help raise awareness of this important topic in the hope that it provides crucial support for women working in travel.”
