Egypt flag carrier Egyptair will launch a new route from Manchester to Cairo later this summer.
The airline will offer the new direct service from 15 July, making Manchester the only city in the UK outside of London to have a direct link to Egypt’s capital. It will be the first time the destination is served by Manchester since the summer of 2015.
Flights operate five times weekly on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, departing at 2.30pm.
Chris Woodroofe, managing director of Manchester Airport, said: "Having a direct route to Cairo is fantastic news for travellers in our region, giving them a straightforward means of visiting one of the Seven Wonders of the ancient world.
"This link also offers businesses in our region access to a fast-growing market and adds another in-demand route to our growing network, cementing our place as the UK’s global gateway in the north."
